Central Vancouver Island

For Immediate Release

A group of local charities have joined forces to share news of a national awareness program designed to stress the significance of having an up-to-date Will and to encourage people to leave a gift through their Will or any other gift planning instrument to a charity or non-profit organization of their choice. The group’s goal is to educate Vancouver Islanders on the importance of having a Will and the innovative ways in which to leave a charitable gift through a Will as a means of establishing a lasting legacy for future generations.

The “Nanaimo LEAVE A LEGACY™ Committee” is the local branch of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners. An educational session for Central Vancouver Professional Advisors (financial planners, lawyers, and accountants) is currently being planned, and the Committee expects a strong turnout for the May event. May is also “National Leave a Legacy Month”.

“The wonderful thing about this committee is that, as charities, we are all working together towards the common good; promoting philanthropy through a charitable gift in your Will”, says Amber Adams, Leave a Legacy Committee Chair, “There are only three places your money can go when you pass away, to your loved ones, a charity, or the Government. We encourage taking care of your family first and then consider leaving a legacy to your community”. For more information about the Committee and the May event please contact Amber at [email protected] or like them on Facebook ‘Leave a Legacy Central Vancouver Island’.
