About the Artist
I have loved painting since I was a kid and have found peace in creating art during difficult times throughout my life. I work for a not-for-profit charitable society and have had the pleasure of hosting various fundraising events for charity over the past couple of years that are near and dear to my heart. I also used to be a Paint Night instructor.
During this global pandemic, while everyone is self-isolating, I turned my dining room into an art studio. It started with the heart painting which was inspired by the Hearts in the Window movement. From there, I decided to create a whole series of COVID 19 themed paintings and started producing a painting almost every day. While creating the art was a form of therapy for me and made me feel less alone, I shared my pieces on the Get Down with the Lockdown Facebook Page and received an overwhelming response from people all over (over 1000 likes in less than a day!). I started getting messages about selling the pieces and it got me thinking about how I could turn this into something bigger. I am one of the fortunate people who is able to work from home and have not been impacted financially by the pandemic while so many others do not have that luxury so how can I help?
I reached out to the Nanaimo Foundation, who do amazing work for people in our community, to see if we could collaborate and create an online auction of all the art pieces and donate every dollar to those affected by this unprecedented pandemic. They were so positive and encouraging about the idea and jumped at the opportunity! It warms my heart to be able to help people in my community, even if just a little. Everyone wins!
Having lived in Nanaimo for over 5 years now, I can proudly call Nanaimo, BC my home. I am originally from Vancouver but have lived all over Western Canada.
Each canvas has been painted using acrylic paint and acrylic paint pens.
