Tom Harris Community Endowment Fund
Tom Harris generously supported our community through giving to minor sports, the United Way, the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, Vancouver Island University, and many other local organizations. In 2014, Tom created an endowment fund at Nanaimo Foundation. Tom also gave generously with his time, volunteering on multiple boards and committees across our community, including serving on the Nanaimo Foundation Board of Directors for more than 16 years. The Tom Harris Community Endowment Fund will support a variety of local charitable causes annually. This legacy for Tom will continue his tradition of giving back, doing great things for many needs in Nanaimo.

Tom Harris Fund for Families
To honour and continue Tom’s legacy as a family man and community leader in philanthropy, Tom Harris Cellular has created the Tom Harris Fund for Families. Every year, this Fund will give back to families in need in the local communities that Tom Harris Cellular serves.

BC Summer Games Legacy Fund
As part of the legacy from the 2015 BC Summer Games held in Nanaimo, a $60,000 fund was created in partnership with the BC Games Society and the Nanaimo Foundation. $2,000 will be distributed annually to deserving students in school district 68 Nanaimo-Ladysmith.

Nanaimo Association for Community Living Fund

Established in 2016, the NACL Fund supports a person-centered approach in helping individuals with developmental disabilities reach their full potential.

Nanaimo Conservatory of Music Fund
Established in 2015, in part from a bequest from the estate of David Livingston, to provide ongoing support to foster excellence in the performing arts in the Central Vancouver Island Region. This fund includes the Joie de Vivre Scholarship which awards $100 each year to a student of the Conservatory who shows significant promise and joie de vivre in their approach to their studies. Monies generated from this fund will support the operations of the Conservatory and bursaries for students in need of financial assistance.

Nanaimo Museum Endowment Fund
Thanks to the generosity of a special Nanaimo woman, the Nanaimo Museum established an Endowment Fund in 2008. The museum uses the interest off this fund towards the yearly development costs.

Nanaimo Travellers Lodge Endowment Fund
A planned gift to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge shows both generosity and foresight. Help leave a legacy of compassionate dementia care by considering a gift for the future.

The Port Theatre Endowment Fund
The Port Theatre Society Endowment Fund has grown to more than $1.3M and is now managed by the Nanaimo Community Foundation. $1 from every ticket sold is added to this Fund each year.

Vancouver Island Symphony Endowment Fund

Thanks to the generosity of a special Nanaimo woman, the Vancouver Island Symphony established an Endowment Fund in 2016. The VI Symphony Fund helps keep music LIVE on Vancouver Island.
